Dr. Margaret Holmes-Rovner’s research has contributed substantially to establishing the field of patient-provider shared decision-making in health care. Current research is in use of electronic media (including the electronic health record) to implement patient participation in decision-making. She has developed decision support tools, and decision aid evaluation measures and participated in international standard setting for educational materials designed to support informed, shared patient decision-making, including the International Patient Decision Aid Standards (IPDAS) collaboration.
