What's Happening in Bioethics & Social Justice
About the seminar series
The bioethics seminar series was started by the Center in the mid 1990s. Over the years, the series has featured countless speakers from across the United States and the rest of the world. Lecture topics frequently stemmed from bioethics history, current research, theory, law and health policy, and more. The seminar series, formerly called the Bioethics Brownbag & Webinar Series, added a webinar option in 2010. In addition, Hall, Render, Killian, Heath & Lyman invited the Center for Bioethics and Social Justice to partner on a bioethics seminar series. The Center and Hall Render invited guests from the health professions, religious and community organizations, political circles, and the academy to engage in lively discussions of topics spanning the worlds of bioethics, health law, business, and policy.
In 2024, the Center announced a new seminar outreach series, which replaces the previous Bioethics for Breakfast and the Public Seminar Series. The new series is titled "What's Happening in Bioethics & Social Justice". This series will occur twice per semester and will address contemporary and pressing issues in the realms of bioethics, social justice, medicine, and the humanities. We appreciate your ongoing support and hope you will be able to join us.
