About
Larissa E. Westcomb is an international medical graduate with over twenty years of teaching experience in undergraduate biomedical education. Her main goal is the ongoing humanization of medical care through medical education framed within the biopsychosocial model. Her professional work involves medical school curriculum design and delivery that integrates medical ethics, shared decision-making, social determinants of health, and health policy with medical education, patient-centered, and evidence-based care. With this work Dr. Westcomb fosters a culture of diversity and inclusion through instruction and example. Dr. Westcomb is based out of the College of Human Medicine Grand Rapids campus where she works with the Shared Discovery Curriculum Learning Society Fellows to train first- and second-year medical students in the social context of clinical decisions.
