Position Summary

The Director of the Michigan State University Center for Ethics and Humanities in the Life Sciences (hereafter, “the Center”) is a nationally recognized scholar who provides intellectual and administrative leadership for the Center and who recruits the best new talent. The Director possesses a compelling vision for future growth, experience in acquiring external research funding, administrative experience and a strong record of publication. He/she supports the unit’s resources including faculty, research and scholarship, teaching and outreach. The Center Director reports to the Dean of the College of Human Medicine.

Minimum Requirements

The successful candidate must have a PhD, MD, MD/PhD or JD with a proven track record of excellence in bioethics and academic impact. Applications are encouraged from ethicists, medical humanists and social science scholars who actively conduct research in interdisciplinary areas of biomedicine and life sciences. Teaching opportunities will exist for the successful candidate.
