Clinical Ethics Consultation Training Workshops

Develop and enhance your clinical ethics consultation skills in an interactive small-group environment.

Faculty in the Center for Ethics and Humanities in the Life Sciences have been devoted to broadening public and health professional understanding of the ethical dimensions of health care since 1977. They bring years of experience helping health care providers, patients and families to successfully address complex ethical challenges in patient care, and assisting health care organizations to develop policy and procedures that optimize the delivery of ethically sound care.

What Will I Learn?

During the workshop, learners practice:

  • Avoiding pitfalls in the ethics consultation process
  • Ethics consultation skills
  • Writing a consultation report

Who Will Be Teaching?

Workshops will be led by at least two faculty from the Center for Ethics with experience in clinical ethics consultation and policy. Since the workshop format is highly interactive, workshop participants will also be learning from one another.

Who Should Attend?

  • Those serving on their institution’s ethics committee who are interested in performing ethics consults
  • Those actively performing ethics consults who would like to enhance or refresh their skills
  • Nurse and nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants, primary care and specialty physicians, hospital chaplains, and social workers who participate in clinical ethics consultations
