The Center for Ethics and Humanities in the Life Sciences Fund

Like most other public universities, Michigan State University has been struggling against reductions in state funding, a trend that has accelerated in recent years. The Center for Ethics and Humanities in the Life Sciences is feeling its share of those losses, and has been vigorously pursuing other sources of revenue to support its mission, like research grants and service contracts with hospitals and other organizations.

Although these efforts have so far been successful in preserving basic operations, there is little left over that might fund new initiatives or the additional faculty and staff needed to pursue them. These include such things as expanded outreach to community hospitals, a revived Master’s program in bioethics, ethics training programs for medical residencies, or fellowships for faculty or postdoctoral students from other countries who would like to study with us.

If you would like to help the Center for Ethics pursue its vision, please consider making a tax-deductible gift at the link below. We are grateful for any gift, no matter how small. If you’d like to discuss how your gift might be used, or how you might help support a major initiative, please contact the Center director, Tom Tomlinson, (517) 355-1634.
